Quantag FAQ: Your first scan
Do I need an account or password to get started?
No. Scan the tag with your phone camera and you're in. Setup, naming the room and your first diagnosis all work without a password.
I scanned the tag but I'm not near the equipment. What happens?
Tell us you're just checking it out. Nothing gets set up, and the tag stays ready for when you are. Scan it again when you're standing at the furnace, AC or other unit.
What does setup involve?
It takes a few quick steps. Snap the nameplate, confirm the details, and name the room the unit is in (for example, "Basement furnace"). You can skip steps you don't have time for, and you can go straight into a diagnosis when you're done.
Can I skip setup completely?
Yes. You can finish setup later, and serial numbers stay behind sign-in.
After setup, who can see my equipment information?
Anyone who scans an active shop tag gets a simple page with no serial numbers or service details. To lock down your account, set a password. Your dashboard needs you to sign in.
Can my techs use the tag?
Yes. Techs can scan the tag on site to pull up the unit's page.
